CENSORS AND SO CALLED CELIBACY | THE IRONIC PART

Ha ha ha… now that I have got your attention, lemme say the real topic of this article! Well, don’t get me wrong! Half of it IS right, I AM going to talk about Censors but celibacy… well, we shall see to it later! So yeah, CENSORS! We must all give a huge hand to the Censor Board for saving us all from those violent, obscene, offending scenes (No pun intended!)! But does it really help?

We MUST respect and appreciate the deeds of the Censor Board for doing their jobs with flair. More than fifty years have passed since its functioning had started and should we really comment about its super cool job? The Board grades movies based on the violence level, dialogues, age factor, and content. It does protect us, poor audiences, from having to view certain scenes that are a tad too much, well beyond our level and scenes that are just not necessary in that portion. (I mean, what is the use of having lustful scenes at a funeral?)! The Board does a great work by omitting scenes which are not going to create any differences to the movie and its screenplay; which won’t affect the actual story; and those which would make children arrive with wild conclusions.

Depending on the certificate that has been set for the film, certain scenes are removed and retained. But sometimes, the Board does go overboard! What is the use of removing scenes that last for 60 minutes, from a 121-minute long movie, after awarding it an “A” certificate? Of course, there are certain scenes which need to be blue-penciled before the movie is screened, but 60 minutes? Don’t screen the movie already!

Having said that, the plight of movies which go unreleased in our country is worse! What is the point of not releasing the movie, when citizens have access to the part of the media called the “Internet”? And does the Board really think that simply censoring scenes or prohibiting the release of such movies would make the audience not get access to the movie and not get polluted? (pleeeeaasseee!!)

Certain movies do comprise of outrageous scenes, which are sometimes even pointless. Deleting such scenes would help improve the quality of the film and withhold the culture of our country. But there is no use in allowing the release of fruitless films (Nope! I don’t want to mention names and get into trouble!) and banning the release of films that contain rich messages, just because the story involves controversial topics!

Censor or no censor, people will decipher some way to get access to the films that they want to watch! For all those that want to watch unreleased films and other films in an uncensored manner, make use of the World Wide Web! But for all those who do not want to get into awkward situations when they enter the theaters, don’t worry! The Censor Board is here to save the day! (Hey! Again! NO PUN INTENDED!)

Kudos to the Censor Board! *claps*
